I was born into a pastor’s home. Because of the witness of a personal soul winner, my mother and father were both saved while they were college students and followed the Lord’s calling into the gospel ministry shortly thereafter.
I received Christ at the age of twenty-two! Growing up in a pastor’s home, knowing the Bible, and going to Christian school does not make you a child of God. My personal relationship didn’t start with Christ until I received Him into my heart.
I get to serve the Lord with my family! Shortly after salvation, I married the love of my life, Julie! We were both thoroughly involved in our church and its ministries and loving it. Feeling the call of God to the ministry, I began attending the Heartland Baptist Bible College and graduated as a Bachelor in Pastoral Theology. Afterwards, I received a masters degree in Pastoral Theology from Crown College of the Bible. Entering into the ministry in 2005, I began working in the state of Michigan, then later in the state of New York under my Father, Dr. Tim Young serving in the Christian school, jail ministries, nursing homes, youth department, preaching etc… Since then, the Lord has blessed us with three children: Audrianna in 2008, Timothy in 2010, and Theodore in 2014.
I pastored the First Baptist Church of Black River. Knowing the calling of God for my life was to pastor a local New Testament Church, we began to pray for direction regarding a pastorate. In June 2009, God led us to the First Baptist Church of Black River. The First Baptist Church, though old and possessing a rich history, had only two voting members at this time. The building, though architecturally beautiful and structurally sound, was in complete disrepair. While we were at First Baptist Church, the Lord miraculously blessed and provided the funds for the building to be completely restored and for the Lord’s house to be full once again.
I was able to minister to the military. Being directly outside the gates of Fort Drum, First Baptist Church had the unique opportunity to reach thousands of soldiers with the gospel and help them in their relationship with Jesus Christ. We were able to meet and serve the Lord with many wonderful people. It was encouraging to see those helped by our church go to other places in the country and serve in other local New Testament churches, and yet we hated to say good-bye to so many faithful friends.
I am amazed that God has so graciously called me to pastor Lighthouse Bible Baptist Church in January 2018, only thirty minutes from my hometown. We are excited that the Lord has led us to Lighthouse to begin a new phase in our ministry and are looking forward to serving the Webster and surrounding areas for years to come as the Lord leads. To quote the great missionary William Carey, I believe that the future of Lighthouse is “as great as the promises of God.”
